On June 18th and 19th, 2022, the Pirate Security Conference took place in Prague for the first time.
What is it about?
A new phase in geopolitics has become increasingly apparent in recent years, and with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine it is now visible: our post-war world order is dismantling. Where previously a few superpowers dominated world affairs, they are now falling behind. New powers are striving to assert their interests and fill the power vacuum. A multipolar world order is emerging.
At the same time, technologies and media such as Twitter are adding unprecedented dimensions to events: the unhindered flow of information favors the spread of “fake news” and leads to disputes in large parts of society.
Events, including the Ukraine war, disrupt supply chains: The supply of energy, raw materials and food is threatened. In the past, this often led to revolutionary events.
This year’s Pirate Security Conference deals with these events, some of which are closely interlinked. The topics covered are
- Multidimensional threats,
- Disruptive events as a cause of conflict,
- Resilience in the face of global conflicts of new media and technologies.
