It was highlighted that fake news, such as claims of Presidential orders to kill people, led to the ousting of a President. The conversation also covered the role of colonialism in creating and manipulating conflicts, the involvement of European militaries in training local forces with fake weapons, and the refusal of Western countries to sell real weapons to Mali. Yet history shows that the collapse of an authoritarian system does not automatically produce democracy, stability, or peace. In many cases, unplanned collapse leads instead to fragmentation, mass violence, and renewed authoritarianism under new forms.
